Native recently organised and managed the first Emirates Festival Day in association with the Al-Maktoum Institute. The event was well attended by visiting students studying at the Al-Maktoum Institute, VIP business people from Scotland and the UAE, and academics from across the county and those interested in the many displays and speakers from the likes of Emirates Airlines, Highland Spring, Visit Scotland, Dundee City Council, Golf 3000, Carnoustie Country, Mackays, the Government of Dubai and the list goes on.
A fantastic day was had by all, and was well received as guests were treated to a variety of Middle East dishes over lunch while speeches about life and business were made by the likes of His Excellency Mirza Al-Sayegh – Director of the office of HH Sheikh Hamden Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Principal Malory Nye from the Al-Maktoum Institute, visiting students, Navin Kapoor – a visiting scholar from the Al-Maktoum Institute and the former president of the Indian Business Council in Dubai and our own Iain Stirling commenting on the Middle East Business Club (www.middleeastbusinessclub.com)
We are excited to have been involved in such a successful first event celebrating the connections between Scotland and the Middle East. We look forward to building on it for next year.
